Armbars Techniques From Bottom Position

Armbar from closed guard

1. Karl has Rosi in his closed guard. He isolates her right arm by pulling it across the body and grips the left shoulder with his left hand.

Armbar Step One

2. He opens his guard and places his left foot on the hip.

Armbar Step Two

3. Pushing with his left foot, he angles off and brings his left leg high on Rosi’s shoulders, breaking her posture.

4. He pushes her face away and removes his left leg, bringing it around the head…

5. Pinching both knees together, Karl has the arm totally trapped.

6. To complete the submission he pulls down on the arm and he lifts his hips up. Note: By engaging the hamstrings, the heels are pressed down to the floor, making the submission very difficult to escape.

Face-down armbar from closed guard

1. As before, Karl has Rosi in his closed guard with the arm isolated and the grip on the shoulder.

2. Again, he places the left foot on the hip.

3. He angles off and the right leg is brought up high on across Rosi’s upper back.

4. Karl places his hand on Rosi’s face and pushes away (to the opposite direction as before). He begins to bring his left shin high across her neck.

5. Rolling to his right side, Karl presses down with his leg on the back of her neck.

6. He finishes by driving her head down into the mat and posturing up high, pushing his hips into the elbow joint.
