16/07/08 - Breaking news: Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson arrested

Quinton “Rampage” Jackson was arrested on Tuesday afternoon and faces a number of charges relating to driving offences and evading law enforcement officials.

The former UFC light heavyweight champion was apprehended after a police patrol saw him weaving in and out of traffic with a blown out tyre.

After ignoring orders to stop, Jackson drove erratically for some time, hitting parked cars, running through red lights and at one point driving on the wrong side of the road.

He was arrested after his front tyre completely disintegrated, forcing him to pull over and surrender himself to police.

PIctures taken by a witness show Jackson spread-eagled on the road behind his truck with several police officers pointing guns at him.

The 30-year-old was “arrested, he was transported to the Orange County central jail, and he is booked there, and that's where he's at currently," Costa Mesa Police Lieutenant Paul Dondero told MMAjunkie.com).

"He's just been arrested, so nothing's been established," he added.

"If he's released on bail, that's an option. He would be given a court date to appear. If he's kept in custody, then he could go to court as early as maybe Thursday morning."

Yahoo! Sports is reporting that UFC president Dana White has flown to Orange County to post bail for Jackson.
