30/07/10 - Mayhem Miller slams Nick Diaz' "thug mentality"

Jason "Mayhem" Miller has slammed Strikeforce welterweight champion Nick Diaz, accusing him of promoting “stupid thug culture” and holding the sport back as a result. Miller and Diaz were two (opposing) participants in the now infamous brawl that followed ‘Strikeforce: Nashville’ earlier this year.

In a HDNet special "The Voice vs. 'Mayhem' Miller" to be broadcast tonight at 22:00, presenter Mike ’The Voice’ Schiavello talks with Miller about his career and life in general. At one point he holds up a picture of Diaz and asks for Millers thoughts.

“I used to love this guy in the same way that I loved president George Bush. So stupid its hilarious. But now he affects my life it’s a totally different thing. He is promoting this thug mentality, that its cool to jump people,” Miller fumes.

“Its this stupid [attitude] that was really popular when I was in, like, sixth grade. Snoop Doggy Dogg had first come out and it was cool to be a gangster. Its not cool to be a gangster, he is highlighting this stupid thug culture that we need to get rid of.”

Miller says that he wants to fight Diaz more than anybody else - including his long-time bitter rival Jacare. “I really want to beat him up. He put me in a weird spot where I got jumped on national television. I think if that mentality wasn’t there… He was the first dude to throw a punch at me. Why? Because he was looking for an excuse to jump someone. There’s no honour in that, no valiancy. It’s a street fight.”
