09/03/10 - Kimbo vs Mitrione confirmed for UFC 113
Kimbo Slice will meet Matt Mitrione at UFC 113 in Canada, the Ultimate Fighting Championship has confirmed. Both men came into the UFC via series ten of The Ultimate Fighter reality show and both have one win in the organisation.
Slice - real name Kevin Ferguson - is a former street fighter who shot to fame via videos posted on YouTube and elsewhere. He transitioned into MMA in 2008 after joining the short-lived EliteXC promotion and was picked up for TUF after that organisation went under.
He made his UFC debut proper at the TUF10 finale, beating Houston Alexander in a catch weight fight that went the distance. Slice showed an improved ground game and also demonstrated some takedown ability at points in the fight.
Mitrione (1-0), an NFL veteran, made his proper mixed martial arts debut on the TUF10 finale card and showed impressive poise and power as he knocked out Marcus Jones in the second round. A win over Slice at UFC 113 would make his name known throughout the MMA world.
UFC 113 takes place on Saturday, May 8th at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada.
