05/02/10 - Exclusive: Bisping picking Rampage's brain for Wanderlei tactics
Michael Bisping believes his Wolfslair team mate Quinton ‘Rampae’ Jackson will prove to be a key asset in his preparations for a UFC 110 fight with Wanderlei Silva. Jackson has fought a trilogy of battles with Silva and has more experience of facing the Brazilian than any other fighter competing at the top level.
Jackson is 1-2 in the series with Silva but took the W in their last meeting, stopping Silva by way of a first-round KO. Bisping is confident he can learn from the tactics Jackson employed to turn the tables on hi former nemesis.
It’s a cliché but you are only as good as the people you train with and I am lucky to have some big guys [like Rampage] to work with. Rampage arrived in the country a couple of days ago and we are just getting down to it now,” he told Fighters Only this week.
“He has already been showing me some good drills, some stuff I have already been working on but also some slightly more specific stuff to do that is already is helping. I am sure he has lots of good stuff to offer. Nobody knows Wanderlei like Rampage so I am looking forward to getting some golden nuggets in the next few weeks.”
Bisping, Rampage and the rest of the Wolfslair team leave for Australia this weekend in order to be fully acclimatised by the time fight night rolls around. The British middleweight’s chances have been dispared by some, but he is feeling very confident.
“I am confident of winning the fight - what do you want me to say, that I am going to get my arse kicked? I have got a tough fight on my hands, Wanderlei Silva is very tough opponent. Do I think I can win it? Yeah I think I can win it. Sue me!”
The fight takes place on February 20th.
