18/12/09 - Curse of UFC 108 strikes again: Sherk out – Ludwig in
Injuries continue to plague the forthcoming UFC 108 - with the news that Sean Sherk has had to withdraw from his January 2 lightweight encounter with Jim Miller.
Sherdog.com reported the news after hearing from the fighter's manager, Monte Cox. Cox said that his fighter sustained a cut over his right eye that required multiple stitches.
The wrestler had been promoted from a preliminary bout against Rafaello Oliveira to face Miller on the main card only a week ago. (Miller's planned opponent, Tyson Griffin, was forced to withdraw due to an undisclosed injury).
Now striker Duane "Bang" Ludwig has been called in to replace Sherk according to MMA Weekly.
After losing three proposed main events bouts, UFC 108 features a headline battle between former UFC light heavyweight champion Rashad Evans and Brazilian Thiago Silva.
