03/12/09 - Little Nog offered fight with Brandon Vera
After his stunning debut at UFC 106, in which he dispatched colleague Luiz Cane less than two minutes of the first round, a lot of discussion came up for the next opponent Brazilian veteran Antonio Rogerio Nogueira - aka “Lil Nog” - should face.
He is already being talked about as one of the top contenders of the light heavyweight division and will no doubt soon be squaring off with other world class athletes like Mauricio Shogun, Thiago Silva and Rashad Evans.
Luiz Alves – Lil Nog’s Muay Thai coach – said last night, “Rogerio is in the United States where he will fight on Feb 6th 2010 to UFC 106, the event which is expected to be headlined by Big Nog and Cain Velasquez.”
And he revealed that Lil’ Nog was offered a fight with Brandon Vera, but was not interested since the American is coming off a defeat to Randy Couture at UFC 105 and also because the two share a training facility.
“The UFC offered Brandon Vera but it’s an uncomfortable fight because we train in his academy in USA,” Alves said. “But if the match is made definite we will work to win.”
