25/11/09 - Serra v Trigg official for UFC 108
Matt Serra has announced that he has signed and returned a bout agreement for a fight with Frank Trigg at UFC 108.
“Signed to fight Frank Trigg on Feb 6 in Vegas(UFC). Should be an exciting fight!!!” he wrote on his Facebook account today. “I love the UFC...they keep hooking me up with the most arrogant guys to punch in the face!!!”
Serra has not fought since May of this year, when he lost a unanimous decision to long-time rival Matt Hughes. Since 2004 he has fought just once a year, having spent a considerable amount of time injured or out of circulation because of coaching duties on TUF.
The likeable New Yorker beat Georges St. Pierre in April 2007 to take the UFC welterweight title, but lost it one year on when he was rematches with the French-Canadian. As such, Serra goes into the Trigg fight off back-to-back losses.
Trigg returned to the UFC in September after a four-year absence. His return fight was against Josh Koscheck at UFC 103, with Trigg losing by first-round TKO.
