07/11/09 - Cung Le confirms December 19th Strikeforce fight
Cung Le will be returning to the Strikeforce cage on December 19th, he confirmed during the television broadcast of last night’s Strikeforce Challengers event.
“I’ve been staying in good shape and I’m ready to get back in there for the fans,” Le said. “I’ll be fighting for Strikeforce on December 19th.”
Le is set to face Scott Smith at the December event - Strikeforce:Evolution - and it will be broadcast on the Showtime network.
Other fights rumoured for that event are Ronaldo ’Jacare’ De Souza against Matt Lindland in a middleweight bout and Robbie Lawler against Melvin Manhoef.
Bobby Lashley and Mohammed ‘King Mo’ Lawal are also set to appear at the event, although Lawal does not have an opponent in place yet.
Le was the Strikeforce middleweight champion until recently, when he relinquished his belt due to inactivity. The vacant belt is up for grabs at tomorrow night’s Strikeforce event, where Jake Shields and Jason ‘Mayhem’ Miller will compete for it.
