25/09/09 - Edith Labelle hits China (kind of)

Having left the UFC under a cloud recently, Edith Labelle could well be looking for ring girl work in other promotions. And when Fighters Only arrived at the Art of War  ring girl contest at the Venetian Hotel in Macau, China last night, it looked like LaBelle had headed to Asia to try her luck.

The girl in the picture was one of 12 contestants for one of the four ring-girl spots that were available for Saturday night’s event. When she hit the stage, mouths dropped open across the venue as everyone did a double-take - was Edith in Macau?

It certainly looked like it. Aside from the facial resemblance, there were at least two physical similarities that caught the attention of the fans in the crowd.

But actually, her name is Jessica and she is a dancer at the casino. She made it into the final four and was one of Wanderlei’s choices (excellent taste in my opinion - ed). Asked about her famous lookalike, she said she was not aware she had such a close resemblance to LaBelle.

She is a mixed martial arts fan however. “I have a weakness for tough guys,” she giggled. “So I am really looking forward to having a front-row seat at the fights tomorrow night.”

Art of War 14: Ground Zero takes place at the Cotai Arena in the Venetian Hotel, Macau on Saturday night and features Rolles Gracie vs. Peter Graham plus Wanderlei Silva protégé Michael Costa.
