24/09/09 - Frank Mir, Miguel Torres training at Sityodtong

Mark Dellagrotte’s MMA and Muay Thai school Sityodtong has picked up two big names in recent weeks, Fighters Only has learned.

Former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir and former WEC bantamweight champion Miguel Torres are both heading to the Boston gym to work with the man regarded as having one of the best ‘Muay Thai for MMA’ systems in the sport.

“Big things are popping back here,” Dellagrotte laughed when Fighters Only asked him what was going on at his gym.

“I just picked up Frank Mir, he is going to be working with us. I have a great relationship with Frank, he is going to be my new project. And Miguel Torres is coming to see us, he is coming off that loss [to Bowles], he’s gonna work with us and we will hopefully get his belt back.”

In addition to his new projects, Dellagrotte is still working with his stable of regulars, UFC welterweight Marcus Davis among them.

“We’ve got Marcus Davis here getting ready for his UFC fight in November, plus Jorge Gurgel is here to get ready for his Strikeforce fight against Billy Evangalista,” Dellagrotte says of his near-future work schedule.

He also revealed that Patrick Cote “just got off the phone” and will be back in training at Sityodtong soon. Cote’s next fight will be in the UFC, Dellagrotte said, and is expected to take place in early 2010.
