07/09/09 - Exclusive: Gugerty v Etim at UFC 105
Shannon Gugerty (12-3) has been offered a lightweight clash with Terry Etim at UFC 105 in November, Fighters Only has been told.
A Californian source tells us that the contract has not been signed by either fighter but verbal agreements are in place.
The fight will be Gugerty’s fourth in the UFC, having gone 2-1 since his debut against Dale Hartt at the Irvin v Silva Fight Night in 2008.
Gugerty’s last outing was at UFC 100, where he locked in a fight-finishing guillotine choke on Matt Grice at 2:36 of the first round.
Etim (13-2) is coming off a submission win himself, having stopped Justin Bucholz with a D’Arce choke in the second round of their UFC 99 fight.
The win put Etim on a three-fight winning run and took him to 4-2 in the UFC overall. He shares a common opponent with Gugerty, having also beaten Matt Grice by way of first round guillotine submission.
UFC 105 takes place at the Manchester Evening News Arena in Manchester, England on Saturday November 14th. Tickets are expected to go on sale soon.
