14/08/09 - Villefort refutes rumour he was dropped by UFC

Danillo Villefort has responded to rumours that he was dropped by the Ultimate Fighting Championship after losing at UFC 101.

"Me? Fired? I was fired only if the UFC didn't tell me!" he wrote in a text message last night after being contacted by Fighters Only about the rumour.

The rumour circulated in the wake of his TKO loss to Jesse Lennox at UFC 101 on Saturday night. However, the loss was controversial as it was due to a cut caused by an accidental head butt.

Villefort (9-3) trains and fights out of American Top Team and is an accomplished Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Judo competitor.

The god-son of Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, Villefort arrived in the UFC by way of the WEC, switching organisations when the WEC disbanded its welterweight division.
