05/05/09 - Three more cut by UFC following UFC 97 losses
Ryo Chonan, David Bielkheden and David Loiseau have all been dropped by the Ultimate Fighting Championship in its latest round of roster cuts.
They join Jason 'The Athlete' MacDonald in exiting the promotion following their losses at UFC 97 in Montreal last month.
Chonan lost to TJ Grant by split-decision, which put him on a two-fight losing run and brought his overall UFC record to 1-3.
Bielkheden lost to Mark Bocek by first-round submission, taking his overall UFC record to 1-2, while Loiseau lost a unanimous decision to Ed Herman in what was his first UFC match after returning to the organisation following a lengthy absence.
The cuts bring the number of fighters dropped after UFC 97 to five, with Vinicius Magalhaes getting his marching orders last week.
All the cuts are commensurate with the UFC's current policy of aggressive roster-cutting. Athletes with losing records or a history of lacklustre performances are being released from their contracts regularly by the organisation.
