05/03/09 - Exclusive: Terry Etim added to UFC 99 card, signs new deal
Terry Etim (12-2) will be fighting Justin Buchholz at UFC 99 later this year, Fighters Only was informed earlier today.
The Liverpool lightweight earned plaudits and comparisons with Anderson Silva after his profile-raising head kick KO win over Brian Cobb at UFC 95 late last month.
Etim (3-2 in the UFC) was supposed to fight Buchholz (1-1 in the UFC) at that event but a bad staph infection meant that Cobb had to be drafted in as a replacement.
He has also signed a new four-fight deal with the UFC and our source tells us that Etim has received "improved terms" and is "very happy with it".
Despite his reputation as a Thai boxer, the Team Kaobon fighter has earned three-quarters of his career victories by way of submission.
He will go into the Buchholz bout on a two-fight winning run, while Buchholz is coming off a submission win over Corey Hill at UFC 86.
