18/02/09 - Couture-CroCop off UFC 99, Wand-Franklin on
Randy Couture is not fighting Mirko ‘CroCop’ Filopovic at UFC 99 in Germany, Fighters Only can confirm.
Rumours emerged today that the former heavyweight champion would be fighting the Croatian kick boxer on the UFC’s first venture into continental Europe.
But Fighters Only’s source says that Couture is not interested in fighting Filopovic on the June card, and has declined to appear on the June card at all.
The same source said that BJ Penn will headline UFC 99 in a lightweight title defence against Kenny Florian.
Rumours also emerged earlier that Wanderlei Silva has agreed to fight Rich Franklin at a 195lbs catch weight, possibly on the UFC 99 card.
Fighters Only has been unable to confirm that news at time of writing but has been promised an interview with Wanderlei Silva shortly. He is in London for UFC 95 .
