09/01/09 - Exclusive: Grove to make UFC debut against Justin McCully
Neil ‘Goliath’ Grove will make his UFC debut against Justin McCully at UFC 95 in London, Fighters Only has learned.
Sources close to the bout said that both fighters have agreed to the match, although it has yet to be officially added to the card.
Grove (7-1) was signed by the UFC shortly before Christmas and was widely expected to debut against Mostapha Al-Turk.
Al-Turk was the Cage Rage heavyweight champion prior to signing for the UFC and Grove had called him out for a title fight.
However, Cage Rage ceased operations before the match could be arranged, but the pair are now once again signed to the same promotion.
McCully is a member of Tito Ortiz’s Team Punishment and is 1-1 in his last two fights, having taken a decision win over Eddie Sanchez in his most recent outing.
UFC 95 takes place at London’s O2 Arena on Saturday February 21st 2009 and features a headline lightweight clash between Joe Stevenson and Diego Sanchez.
