19/12/08 - CroCop can't reach my head, says Choi
Hong Man Choi spent yesterday demonstrating to journalists how Mirko ‘CroCop’ Filopovic favourite weapon would be unavailable to him when the two fight on New Year’s Eve.
Standing at 7’2”, Choi said that Filopovic will not even be able to reach his head to land the left high kick that has put so many of his past opponents to sleep.
With the aid of a cardboard cutout of the Croatian kickboxer, he then showed how he intends to use knees on Filopovic.
“Mirko seems to be in a slump recently," he added, "and I have no problem fighting with him on the ground."
Meanwhile, Filopovic sent a statement from Croatia in which he said he is “happy that I was able to fight for the first DREAM event, and will finish this year fighting on New Year’s Eve.
“I heard that the theme of the event is 'brave heart', and I know there were a few times that I needed to challenge how brave I was.
“However, my fans always supported me and backed me up. I promise to show a great fight for my fans!"
Filopovic’s comments on having a brave heart are sure to antagonize his Dutch rival Alistair Overeem, who has openly accused the Croatian of cowardice following their ugly no contest earlier this year.
