19/12/08 - Paul Taylor out of UFC 95 with injury
Top British welterweight Paul Taylor will not be fighting at UFC 95 in London, Fighters Only has learned.
According to his management, Taylor is taking longer than expected to recover from the broken ribs he sustained against Chris Lytle at UFC 89.
Taylor had been rumoured to be facing The Ultimate Fighter season seven graduate Matt ‘The Immortal’ Brown.
Aside from Taylor being British, the UFC was keen to have him because he is a guaranteed crowd-pleaser with three Fight of the Night awards to his name.
Fighters Only recently reported that Taylor (9-4-1 MMA, 2-3 UFC) had been given a new four-fight deal by the UFC which provided for an increase in purse monies.
The Walsall man is one of only a handful of fighters that have received a pay rise despite having a losing record in their UFC contests.
But his three losses have been mitigated by the fact that all three were declared Fight of the Night at their respective events, a testament to Taylor’s all-action style.
The UFC is yet to announce officially announce any fights for UFC 95, which takes place on February 21st 2009 at the O2 Arena, London, England.
