08/12/08 - Fedor 'talking nonsense' says Aleks

Aleksander Emelianenko says his brother Fedor was talking “nonsense” when he claimed he trained much harder than Aleks in their younger years.

Earlier this year, Fedor told Russian newspaper Sport Express that, as youths,” Aleksander looked for adventures on his rear end... I wouldn’t come out of the gym”.

Last week, Aleks was interviewed by the same newspaper and Fedor “is definitely not correct on that. I don’t know why [he] said that. Probably was overcome by some ambitions.

“My brother sometimes gets overwhelmed. He says something stupid, and then he’s sorry about it afterwards.”

Asked if he was upset by Fedor’s comments, Aleks replied: “I’m already used to the nonsense that he spews.”

Fedor has said in the past that Aleks is more naturally gifted than him when it comes to martial arts, but lacks the same work ethic.

Aleks, who at 27 is four years younger than his brother, agrees that he has more innate talent, but denies being lazy.

“I was in the gym from my early childhood,” he said, explaining that the long and alte hours family members worked meant that he was put in Fedor’s care as a child.

“Fedor would pick me up from kindergarten. He just started to take judo. He pulled me with him to the gym, and I was learning how to flip around, tried to wrestle with the kids. When I joined the group of my age, I was already prepared.”
