16/09/08 - Exclusive: Wolfslair aim for Rampage Silva III in New Year
Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson and Wanderlai Silva could be facing off for a third time in the New Year.
Speaking to Fighters Only earlier today, Wolfslair co-owner Anthony McGann said both fighters have been told by the UFC that they will “probably” be fighting each other next.
And despite widespread reports to the contrary, he suggested that the bout is not signed and sealed for UFC 91 in November.
“November was mentioned, but that is too early for either camp. We are looking for the fight to take place in the New Year if possible,” he said.
Rampage agreed, explaining: “I want to be fully prepared for my next fight, I want a full training camp so I am at my best when I step back in the Octagon.”
Part of his future preparations will involve working with Kerry Kayes, nutritionist for light-welterweight boxer Ricky ‘The Hitman’ Hatton.
Rampage said he was “very impressed” with Kayes following a consultation session regarding his diet and nutrition requirements.
McGann also confirmed that Cheick Kongo, who followed Rampage to the Wolfslair last week, has not been given his next opponent yet.
“We’re hoping to get him on the same card as Rampage, that would be ideal for us,” he said.
