12/09/08 - Ricco Rodriguez heads to Wolfslair for UFC 89 camp
Ricco Rodriguez is the latest big name to be making his way to the Wolfslair, the UK gym has revealed.
Rodriguez – who beat Randy Couture for the UFC heavyweight title in 2002 – has fought six times in 2008, winning four of his bouts.
He will be heading to the UK to train alongside Mike Bisping and Paul Kelly as they prepare for their forthcoming fights.
“He has asked can he come out for camp, as well as Tiki Ghosn,” confirmed Wolfslair co-owner Anthony McGann.
He said the arrival of so many top name fighters at the gym recently – including Quinton Jackson and Cheick Kongo –means “that Mike and Paul are going to be well prepared for their showdown on October 18th at UFC 89”.
“I hope all the fans watch the fights and support us,” he added. “If we win then, along with all the current moves we are making, I do believe UK MMA will finally get the respect worldwide that we all know our little island deserves.”
Earlier this week it was announced that Cheick Kongo had joined the Wolfslair; his arrival means the gym has doubled its roster of UFC fighters and has a competitor in every weight class except lightweight.
